Dear Parents,
The teachers have begun work on the midterm portfolio which will be available in about two week’s time. The students will be tested individually on the material that we have covered in class so far. As all the students have generally been keeping up with the work, I have no doubt that every Martian will perform well during the evaluation.
Hazel has been giving her full participation in class and this is really appreciated. She enjoys doing work in the Phonics textbook and this is great as she is really getting a good review of all the letters along with their sounds. Hazel really enjoys story books and is always happy when I read to the class.

Dear Parents,
The fieldtrip on Tuesday was a success! The trip to Ikea allowed the students to observe realia related to the vocabulary for this week’s topic of the kitchen and last week’s topic of the living room. The students especially enjoyed eating hot dogs at the end of the trip! We learned Halloween songs and made ghosts in class this week all in preparation for the Halloween party at the end of the month. It should be a lot of fun!
Hazel is very well liked in class: whenever we ask the students to pick a friend to help them with a task, Hazel is often their choice. I think that this has to do with her calm and quiet disposition. She gets along well with all of her classmates and never gets into arguments with anyone.

Dear Parents,
We’ve been having a fun week doing Halloween activities and preparing for the party on Friday. On Monday we drew Halloween pictures and on Tuesday we made pumpkin soup. We also carved a Jack-o-Lantern and made skeletons for science class. The students have been enjoying children’s story books about witches and monsters as well!
Hazel did well on her evaluation for the portfolio, especially considering that she is a new student! I hope that you are enjoying the pictures, video and samples of her written work. If you have any questions concerning anything in the portfolio please feel free to let me or Teacher Nevia know. I’m looking forward to seeing Hazel’s fairy costume on Friday!
Regards,
Teacher Christine
