Dear Parents,
This coming Monday, August 9th, Teacher Christine will be back from her studies in Canada. I am sure she is excited to be back and misses everyone very much. The students are also excited to have her back. I would like to thank everyone for your understanding and encouragement that you have shown your child for the last month. I am very proud of the progress we have made, and I know everyone will continue to do well in the future.
Everyone is excited to be starting Martian class. The students are now the oldest in the school and it is important for them to remember that all the other students are now looking up to them, and will copy their behavior. Please remind your child of this and let them know that are getting older and will be having more responsibilities.
Since being in Martian class, our schedule has changed a bit to better prepare the students for their future studies. One change is that our lunch now starts at 11:50am instead of 11:30am, so it is important that your child eats a healthy and filling breakfast. Not only will this give them the energy for learning in the mornings, but also will prevent them feeling weak while waiting for lunch.

Dear Parents,
I’m very happy to be back at Kidstart teaching Martian class. It was nice to hear that the students continued to do great work during my absence. Teacher Wally enjoyed his time with them very much. The Martians continue to be enthusiastic and happy in class and we are all looking forward to a new semester of learning together!
It was very nice for me to see Hazel again this week. As usual she is very well behaved and polite in class. I’m amazed at how good her English is now! Her reading is just as good as that of her classmates. She also participates in class and plays with her friends using English only. She has really made tremendous progress since she first began at Kidstart!

Dear Parents,
I had another great week with Martian class. The students are really easing into the new books and material quickly. They are especially doing well with phonics which we are really emphasizing this semester. They also enjoy journal writing where they write sentences and draw pictures to represent the meaning of what they wrote. Tuesday was a good day as we all went to Sunshine Park and had fun playing on the rides there.
Hazel is the bus driver on Wednesdays and she takes her job very seriously. She always checks to make sure that all her friends are lined up properly before letting them go. I’m glad to see that she takes her tasks seriously as this is a sign of responsibility. Hazel continues to do well in all areas and I’m happy to see that she’s been keeping up the great work.

Dear Parents,
We had such a great time in cooking class on Tuesday! The Martians learned how to make tuna “dan bing”. Each student was able to make his or her own and eat it for lunch afterwards! We have also been making foosball games with the shoe boxes that the students brought to school. This ties in nicely with the games and stadium theme that we have for Weekly Topic Time.
I’ve been made aware of the problems that Hazel says she is having with some of the boys in the class. Although I’ve not seen any instances of what she is talking about, I will keep my eyes open with concern to all her interactions with the boys in the class in the future.

Dear Parents,
Unfortunately this week’s fieldtrip to DaAn Park was cancelled due to the rainy weather. We still had a good time in class making subject pronoun mobiles however. And I’m sure we will make up for this week’s missed outing with the semester fieldtrip to the crayon factory in Ilan next week which we are all looking forward to.
Hazel has been doing well in PE class and she seems to enjoy herself a lot. She does a good job with tying her jumping rope by herself. She even helped her friend Sandra with this task this week. She also has a good sense of balance and can walk on the big roller with little assistance from the teacher.
