Dear Parents,

We have had a great time this week! Preparing for the show in a few weeks is very exciting and the children really seem to be enjoying it. This week we had cooking class where the child got to be real chefs and create a cake from scratch! During out weekly topic we learned about North, Central and South America and all the countries that they include. In phonics we learned how to identify and pronounce the long “e” sound. Everyone is progressing wonderfully.

Hazel is doing well in class. She is a smart girl, but sometimes she can get distracted. We are working with her to improve her pronunciation and the volume of her reading. It was nice to have you (mother) in the class for half of the day. It is always nice to see a parent that is active in a child's education.

Everyone is getting so excited for the play next week. We have been practicing everyday and everyone knows their part really well! We went to the Taipei Zoo this week and learned so much. We visited the Nocturnal House and had to chance to see all the animals that are usually asleep when we are awake. We also saw plenty of farm animals! Our topic for this week was “Summer Vacation” and we learned a lot of the countries in Asia. The play is next week and I look forward to meeting all of you.

Hazel has been doing well during our play practices. She has learned his part well and seems to enjoy it. She is very excited to show you what was learned, and I hope you come out and support all the class at the performance!

Bunny class also likes the four songs for the play and can already sing and dance to two of them. I hope that everyone had a nice and restful dragon boat festival on Wednesday!

Hazel has become a strong reader over the past few months. She learns very quickly and has no trouble with making the right sounds in phonics. Hazel gets along well with her classmates and all the other girls think that she is very pretty and wears nice clothes everyday!

Dear Parents,

As your children may have already told you, I will be returning to Canada on Saturday in order to complete the last two courses for a Graduate Certificate in TESL that I have been taking. I will be absent for the month of July and will be returning in early August. My friend, Teacher Wally, who the students have already met, will be taking over my classes. He is an experienced teacher and Bunny Class likes him a lot. They will be in good hands! I wish you a great summer and see you again in August!

Although Hazel was a new student this semester, she has really done an excellent job at catching up with the rest of her classmates. Hazel is a very sweet and well behaved students and it has been very nice to teach and get to know her over the past few months. I hope to see her keep up the good work!

Hello, I am Teacher Wally. I have had a chance to meet some of you, but to those that I haven’t met yet, nice to meet you. For the next month, I will be taking over for Teacher Christine as she is currently improving her skills in Canada.
I am from America and I have been living and working as a teacher in Taiwan for the last 6 years. Before coming here I taught young children in Chicago. I am very excited and happy to be teaching your children for the next month.

Date: 05/31-06/04

What we have covered:
Reader: Ben’s Red Car
MPM: D5 Coordinates
Rhyme: Hickory Dickory Dock
Phonics: The Pancake Man
Song: Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Dear Parents,

We had another good week in class! The students really enjoy the Phonics reader that we are doing this week: “The Pancake Man”. They find the story very interesting! The students have also been doing well with rehearsals for the graduation play. We had a lot of fun at Taipei City Hall on Wednesday where we got to watch a panoramic film about the city.

Hazel is more talkative in class now than she was before although she is still very soft spoken. I’ve been trying to get her to speak up a little because sometimes it’s hard to hear what she is saying. I think that rehearsals for the play can help her with this as she will be encouraged to speak clearly and loudly.

Date: 06/07-06/11

What we have covered:
Reader: Ben’s Red Car
MPM: D5 Functions
Rhyme: Rain
Phonics: The Pancake Man
Song: Jack and Jill

Dear Parents,

This week we began learning the songs for the graduation show. I think that the students really enjoy the music and will have fun singing and dancing during rehearsals. For cooking class we got to learn how to fold the bamboo leaves to make dragon boat dumplings. And on Wednesday the class got to eat cake and celebrate Bonnie’s sixth birthday!

Hazel has done a great job at remembering her lines for the graduation play. Although she is a new student, she has accomplished this task just as quickly as all of her classmates. The only thing that I would like Hazel to work on now is speaking in a louder voice as she is sometimes a little hard to hear. But other than that she is doing great!
